Two tasks, different features
I want to compare this task, using; a normal 12mega pixels digital camera to take the picture and a word programme to create it. To the main task, where i am using an SLR to take the pictures and an advanced photoshop programme to creat it, to see the difference these features have when creating a practial print based piece of work.
I decided that for my preliminary i would go into this first task without doing planning for it, the only planning would be the planning of the photos. i wanted to see how it would turn out on a first attempt at making a magazine cover. then i could see just how much planing and analyzing goes into making magazines.
This is what i got...
Straight away it is obvious that by using a programme like word doesnt allow you to edit and use the features that make magazines look professional.
There are good learning points to take from this when I go to create my real piece: finding text colour to go on top of a picture has to be thought about and tested thoroughly, doing this and playing around with colours and fonts and pictures is better to do on a programme like photoshop.
the placement of texts and pictures needs to be tested thoroughly to get it right.
when taking pictures the lighting and layout needs to be thought about aswell as thinking about where the text and added features will go on the page and make sure they will fit around the main picture when taking the photos.
over all I wouldn't be happy to allow my main piece to look like this, and using photoshop or a better programme than this will be a good choice and is what I am going to do.
After doing this I have also realised a lot of planning and research is needed to get the best outcome possible, also research is needed to make sure the conventions and type of text, pictures etc is appropriate for the genre of my main piece.
